NYC Getaway!

Clay and I went to New York to visit Nickie and Morgan this past weekend and had a WONDERFUL time!  The Visdemans (Visconti + Tiedeman...get it!?!?) live in Greenpoint, a hip neighborhood in Brooklyn.  Their place is AMA-zing and we enjoyed meeting their neighbors and checking out the local shops and eateries.  I enjoyed going back to Williamsburg, my old 'hood, and seeing how things have changed.  The hipsters are multiplying; there were babies everywhere!

I was even able to get in a little work out time and accompanied Nickie to her, celebrity favorite, spinning class called SoulCycle.  It was insane!  Picture doing push ups on the bike, to hip hop music, while cycling, in a hot, dark room and a very passionate, flamboyant man yelling "harder bitches!".  Needless to say, I loved it!

My year of living in New York did not make me immune to celebrity sighting so I was thrilled to see the HBO series "Girls" filming right in front of their place!

Clay was a fabulous travel buddy and loved getting lots of mama, aunt Nickie, and uncle Morgan attention ;-)

Teen with Down Syndrome inspires a community

This is an amazing story about a beautiful girl with Down syndrome who is not letting anything or anyone hold her back!

Tuscaloosa teen with Down Syndrome inspires a community

With a little help from our friends...

Clay started receiving private occupational therapy services (along with Early Intervention from our school district) about 3 weeks ago at Stones Worth Stepping, a developmental learning center that offers occupational and speech therapy.  Babies with Down syndrome typically have low muscle tone, meaning it takes a little longer and little extra work to reach their physical milestones such as holding their head up, sitting, crawling, walking, etc.

I am amazed at how well Clay is doing in such a short amount of time!  I think those muscles just needed a little extra coaxing!  He can now roll from his back to his belly and back over again, is holding his head up high and proud during tummy time, and reaching and grabbing on to objects.  We have been working on sitting and Clay gets a huge grin on his face when put into the "tripod" position.  I think he feels like a big boy seeing his world from a new view!  He does baby sit-ups and tries to pull himself upright every time we put him in his swing or bouncy seat.  We could not be any more proud of our strong little man :-)

Happy Mother's Day!!!

My Love Bugs

This is the Mother's Day craft Wyatt made for me at school.  As you can see in the second picture, I may lack in my domestic cooking skills BUT I am excellent at taking out the trash!

I am so blessed to be the mom of the three most perfect babies ;-)
